Last weekend at Antique Alley in Matthews, North Carolina drooling over a bookcase that will never make it to my house, I found something even better – a collection of collectors’ books, as in books about collecting. I picked out a few, but my favorite is, Antique Trader Guide to Fakes and Reproductions. Now I’ll at least be armed with a little bit of knowledge about reproductions.
According to this book, they are getting harder to identify. So, I guess I’ll have my work cut out for me. The best thing about this book – other than the price – is that it shows the real thing along with the fake. I can see the difference in some but others have me stumped.
Therefore, I find myself in a quandary, study my book so that it will be harder to fool me or watch House of Cards. I’m afraid Frank Underwood is going to get my attention tonight. After all, we did leave him and Claire hanging last weekend promising to return to their devious political plotting tonight.
When Season 2 came out, we devoured it in short order, but Season 3 just has not produced the same desire to put everything else on hold while the Underwoods reveal to us (or so they would have us believe) their shameless manipulation of “friends” and foes to achieve their desired result.
If we are going to get through more than one episode tonight, then we had better get started. I fell asleep during Episode 3. Don’t want that to happen again. Claire wouldn’t be too pleased with me and I certainly don’t want to get on her bad side. I don’t think even Forrest Gump could survive Claire’s bad side and I’m not sure she has a good side. She’s not his Jenny anymore.
